Dry Air Mass Causes NWS To Post Red Flag Warning
Red Flag Warning in effect today from noon until 8 PM EDT for long durations of low relative humidity below 35 percent for Levy, Citrus, Hernando, Sumter, Pasco, Hillsborough, Polk, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, Desoto, Highlands, Charlotte, and Lee Counties.
Drier air will continue to move into the region today.
This dry air will support four or more hours of relative humidity below 35 percent during this afternoon with lowest humidity values bottoming out in the 25 to 30 percent range.
Similar conditions are expected on Thursday for which a Fire Weather Watch has been posted.
A Red Flag Warning is issued when very favorable conditions for the spread of wildfire are occurring now or will occur within 24 hours.
Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field.
