Southerners Face Violent Storms
A storm system slowly pressing into the Southeast today will spark a round of powerful thunderstorms as dry, cooler air clashes with steamy air over the region. These storms will be on the prowl from eastern Arkansas and southeastern Missouri through northern Georgia and the Carolinas.
Torrential downpours, vivid lightning, large hail and destructive wind gusts will accompany these storms. Motorists should be prepared for reduced visibility and flash flooding problems from locally heavy rainfall.
By this afternoon, areas farther south to the Gulf of Mexico will also get drenched by hit-or-miss thunderstorms.
