Dangerous Storms Thursday
Thunderstorms are nature's way of dealing with the clashing of different air masses and this is exactly what is going to happen across the southern tier of the country on Thursday. Hot and moist air is already in place from the southern Plains into the Southeast and this heat and moisture will continue to build today and Thursday, setting up the ingredients for strong thunderstorms.
A cold front will drop southward on Thursday as cooler and warmer air clashes from the Carolinas westward into Missouri and Arkansas. Thunderstorms will rumble throughout the day; however, they will be most numerous and strongest during the afternoon hours. The main threats from these storms will be torrential downpours capable of causing flash flooding, damaging winds and hail.
