Southeast Baking; Florida Increasingly Stormy
Florida will be hot again today with temperatures inland soaring to 100 degrees or higher in a few locations. Tallahassee, which has had six-consecutive days at or above the century mark, will likely add another notch to its belt this afternoon.
The heat will also trigger strong but scattered thunderstorms, mostly over eastern and southern Florida. A few storms could become severe with damaging wind gusts, blinding downpours, hail, and deadly lightning strikes. This is especially true in South Florida, where there is abundant moisture in place.
The upside to the storms will be the welcome, if only short-lived, cooling and localized, soaking rainfall.
