Heat Wave Surges Eastward
The hottest weather of the season so far is pushing eastward from the southern Plains into the Southeast. Temperatures will challenge record highs in a number of cities. Some areas can expect a stretch of days with almost triple-digit heat.
The blazing heat will persist into Saturday but should slowly ease from north to south Sunday into early next week. A round or two of severe thunderstorms, however, may accompany the transition to more comfortable temperatures in parts of the region.
