Storm Slow to Reach Southeast

While powerful thunderstorms from a slow-moving storm system pound the southern Plains today, the Southeast will remain quiet.

High pressure in the area will keep the region dry through Friday.

Meanwhile, the storm on the Plains will continue to creep eastward. By Friday afternoon, a few showers and thunderstorms will make their way eastward into Alabama, but the steady rain and a handful of heavier thunderstorms will remain over the lower Mississippi Valley.
