Weakening Hurricane Paula Still Poses a Threat
Paula is no longer a powerful Category 2 hurricane, but it still poses a serious danger to lives across western Cuba by unleashing flooding rainfall.
Paula will also not leave South Florida unscathed.
Cuba will bear the brunt of Paula, but South Florida and the Florida Keys will not go unscathed.
Drenching showers and thunderstorms will stream across the region into this evening, disrupting outdoor activities and triggering localized urban flooding.
Motorists should use caution since the downpours threaten to reduce visibility and heighten the risk of vehicles hydroplaning.
The strongest winds associated with Paula will remain south of Florida.
However, winds could howl to minimal tropical storm-force in any gusty thunderstorm.
