A tropical depression has formed over the Bahamas and is moving toward the site of massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami the depression has maximum sustained winds Thursday near 35 mph (55 kph) and could become a tropical storm later in the day.
A tropical storm warning has been issued for the central and northwestern Bahamas, for Florida's east coast south of Golden Beach and also along Florida's west coast northward to Bonita Beach. A tropical storm watch is in effect for Florida's east coast north of Golden Beach.
Hurricane Specialist Michael Brennan says it's hard to say where exactly the system could go but forecast tracks show it moving into the eastern and central Gulf in the next several days.
