Threat for Severe Storms in the Southeast
Typical summertime heat and humidity combines with an old stationary front to produce shower and thunderstorm activity from the lower Mississippi Valley through the Southeast and Florida today.
The greatest threat of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening is over western North Carolina, western South Carolina, northern and central Georgia, northern and central Alabama, northeast Mississippi and eastern Tennessee.
The main threat from the severe storms is strong wind gusts that could exceed 60 mph.
High temperatures across the Southeast and Florida will depend on when the storms develop.
