Tropical Storm Henri
The eighth tropical storm of the 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season was named on Tuesday afternoon.
An area of low pressure just under 500 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands has maintained shower and thunderstorm activity over the past 24 hours, and winds have been sustained as high as 50 mph with this storm system.
Tropical Storm Henri is expected to maintain its movement to the west-northwest today, taking the center of the storm north of the Leeward Islands.
Conditions will not be favorable for development much longer, as the storm moves into a dry air mass and encounters strong wind shear aloft.
Henri is expected to weaken late Wednesday or Wednesday night and will pose a minimal threat to land.
