Another Florida Soaker
Tropical moisture interacting with a frontal boundary caused thunderstorms to drench Florida on Wednesday. Tampa was inundated by 4.72 inches of rain. That amount of rain shattered the day's rainfall record and made Wednesday Tampa's sixth all-time wettest July day.
Tropical moisture will continue to stream across the state today, setting the stage for more drenching thunderstorms. The heavy thunderstorms will be most numerous across central Florida during the midday and afternoon hours. These thunderstorms will be capable of dropping 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short period of time. Flash flooding could result, especially where soaking rain fell on Wednesday.
