Gulf Coast and Florida Storms
A sticky, muggy and warm air mass will stagnate in the Southeast today. Temperatures will soar into the 90s in many areas. With dewpoints near or above 70, this will make for a sweltering, uncomfortable air mass.
A few areas of soaking thunderstorms will cool the atmosphere off in spots along the Gulf Coast and across Florida. For example, Pensacola, Fla., went from 101 degrees at 5 p.m. to 81 degrees at 5:43 p.m. thanks to a heavy, drenching downpour from a thunderstorm.
