Southern Soaker Continues
Rounds of drenching thunderstorms that have been rumbling over the South did not end with the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Moisture streaming northward will again help to ignite stormy conditions over the region today.
Today is starting with a few clusters of showers and thunderstorms across the South. The activity will increase in coverage during the afternoon after the atmosphere warms. Widespread severe weather is not anticipated, but drenching downpours and dangerous lightning could accompany any thunderstorm. The heavy bursts of rain may trigger localized flash flooding and slow travel, both on the ground and in the air.
Similar to recent days, most of the thunderstorms will diminish this evening before another round ignites on Wednesday.
