Severe storms in Mid-Atlantic and Southeast

Strong late-winter storm fueled by very warm temperatures and high humidity for late February brings the threat of severe thunderstorms to Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, North Florida, the Carolinas, eastern West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, south-central and southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware and south Jersey.

Damaging wind gusts are the greatest threat, but hail and a few tornadoes are also likely.

The severe thunderstorms will rapidly shift eastward across the southern Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast this afternoon and evening and the severe threat will come to an end overnight as the thunderstorms exit into the Atlantic.
